Browsing The Hierarchy

The browse tool allows you to browse through the BumperBrain hierarchy, displaying any outstanding questions in each category as you go; by clicking on the icon in the menu, you can display questions and documents from the BumperBrain libraries instead of outstanding questions. In both cases, click on the question (or document) title to see further details.

The BumperBrain hierarchy is split into categories. From these categories branch off related sub-categories, at each stage narrowing the topic to a more specific subject matter. You can browse the hierarchy by clicking on the relevant category or sub-category, at which point any sub-categories under that category will be listed. There may also be related categories, which will have links directly through to them - you can click on the link to jump to the related category.

You will be shown the category you are in using the form "Home > Computers & The Internet > Programming & Languages", indicating that the current category is "Programming & Languages" which exists under the top-level category "Computers & The Internet"; when available, a description of the category will also be shown. You can return to the categories above the one you are in by clicking on the links within this heading (and clicking on "Home" will return you to the top of the hierarchy).

At any point you can suggest a new category by clicking on the icon. For help on this, look at the Adding a Category help page.

Once you have become a member you can build a list of your favourite categories. To do this click on the Update Favourites () icon. You can make the category a favourite by clicking on the Add Favourites icon. Note that you can remove categories from your favourites in the same way: go to the category, click on the Update Favourites icon and thence on Remove Favourites.

If you are a BumperBrain expert, you can add the current category to your areas of expertise by clicking on the icon. Please note that we review all areas of expertise, so you will not be listed immediately.
